Government and local councils
Dust, erosion and rehabilitation on council and government land: quarries, depots, road reserves, reserves, landfill caps and works sites, with the plans and records public bodies are expected to keep.
Book a site assessmentThe context
What these sites deal with
Councils and government agencies own and operate a lot of disturbed ground: gravel pits and quarries, works depots, unsealed road networks, closed landfills, drainage reserves and construction projects of their own. They are also the regulator for much of what happens around them, so the standard they hold themselves to is visible. Budgets are tight, procurement is formal, and the work often falls to a small environment or works team covering many sites.
Typical needs
What usually has to be solved
- Dust control on unsealed roads, quarries, depots and works sites
- Erosion and sediment control plans for council construction and maintenance works
- Rehabilitation of closed pits, landfill caps, reserves and drainage lines
- Plans and inspection records that stand up to audit and public scrutiny
- Independent review of contractor work before payment or handover
Our approach
How ATUM fits in
I provide a single independent point of contact for a works or environment team: assessing sites, writing the plans the council needs, specifying work so contractors can be compared on the same basis, and reviewing what was delivered. Scopes can be set up as a panel-style arrangement or priced per site, whichever suits procurement.
Relevant services
Where to start
Environmental plans and documentation
The plans your approval, licence or contract asks for, written by someone who also knows how the work is done on the ground: dust, erosion and sediment, rehabilitation and remediation.
Consulting and site assessment
Independent assessment of your dust or rehabilitation problem, a method that fits, and a plan you can put in front of a regulator.
Dust suppression
Dust control on haul roads, stockpiles, laydown areas and exposed ground, specified to suit the surface and delivered to that specification.
Revegetation and land rehabilitation
Re-establishing vegetation on batters, disturbed ground, stockpiles and closed areas using hydroseeding and hydromulching.
Have a site with dust or rehabilitation conditions to meet?
Send the location, area and what you need to meet. I will come back with what an assessment would cover and a fixed fee where I can, with no obligation to go further.
