Consulting
Consulting and site assessment
Clarity on what the site needs, what it will take, and who should do it, before money is spent on product or crews.
The problem
What this service is for
Dust and rehabilitation conditions are written into approvals without a plan for meeting them. Sites end up reacting to complaints and inspections, buying whatever product a supplier recommends, and paying twice when the first attempt does not hold. An independent view before committing is usually the cheapest step in the whole program.
What is included
What I can prepare and do
Site assessment
I walk the site and read the conditions you have to meet: surfaces, traffic, exposure, drainage, slope, access and timing.
Method and product recommendation
A written recommendation covering application method, product options, rates, timing and an indicative program, so you can plan and budget.
Specification and tender support
A specification your own crews or a contractor can price against, and help comparing quotes.
Trial design
Where the right answer is not obvious, a small trial area and a way to judge the result before scaling up.
Independent review of contractor work
Inspection of work done by others against what was specified and paid for, with a plain written finding you can take back to the contractor.
Oversight and sign-off
Checks during and after application, and a simple record you can hand to your environmental team.
Where it applies
Industries this is used on
Mining
Dust control on haul roads and stockpiles, and progressive rehabilitation of disturbed areas, on operating and closing sites.
Civil and infrastructure
Dust and erosion control during earthworks, and revegetation of batters and corridors at completion.
Energy and renewables
Dust suppression during construction and revegetation of solar farms, wind farm access tracks, transmission corridors and gas sites.
Government and local councils
Dust, erosion and rehabilitation on council and government land: quarries, depots, road reserves, reserves, landfill caps and works sites, with the plans and records public bodies are expected to keep.
Independent landholders
Practical advice for farmers, graziers and private landowners dealing with dust, erosion or bare ground, including land affected by someone else's project.
Related services
Often combined with
Environmental plans and documentation
The plans your approval, licence or contract asks for, written by someone who also knows how the work is done on the ground: dust, erosion and sediment, rehabilitation and remediation.
Dust suppression
Dust control on haul roads, stockpiles, laydown areas and exposed ground, specified to suit the surface and delivered to that specification.
Revegetation and land rehabilitation
Re-establishing vegetation on batters, disturbed ground, stockpiles and closed areas using hydroseeding and hydromulching.
Product supply
Dust suppressants, binders, mulch and seed mixes matched to your ground and supplied for crews who prefer to apply with their own equipment.
Have a site with dust or rehabilitation conditions to meet?
Send the location, area and what you need to meet. I will come back with what an assessment would cover and a fixed fee where I can, with no obligation to go further.
