Independent landholders
Practical advice for farmers, graziers and private landowners dealing with dust, erosion or bare ground, including land affected by someone else's project.

What these sites deal with
Private landholders meet this work from two directions. Some have their own problem: an eroding gully, a bare paddock after drought or fire, a dusty internal road, a dam wall or batter that will not hold. Others have had a mine, pipeline, transmission line, wind or solar project cross their land and are left dealing with how it was reinstated, often with an agreement that promised a result nobody is checking.
Typical needs
What usually has to be solved
- Plain advice on stabilising eroded or bare ground that suits the land use
- Seed mixes and methods compatible with grazing or cropping
- Independent review of reinstatement done by a project on your land
- Written findings you can take to the proponent or their contractor
- Realistic costs and options when budget is the constraint
Our approach
How ATUM fits in
I treat a landholder the same as a mine or a council: look at the ground, say plainly what will and will not work, and put it in writing. Where a project has reinstated your land, I assess it against what was agreed and give you an independent finding so you are not relying on the proponent to mark their own work.
Relevant services
Where to start
Consulting and site assessment
Independent assessment of your dust or rehabilitation problem, a method that fits, and a plan you can put in front of a regulator.
Revegetation and land rehabilitation
Re-establishing vegetation on batters, disturbed ground, stockpiles and closed areas using hydroseeding and hydromulching.
Product supply
Dust suppressants, binders, mulch and seed mixes matched to your ground and supplied for crews who prefer to apply with their own equipment.
Environmental plans and documentation
The plans your approval, licence or contract asks for, written by someone who also knows how the work is done on the ground: dust, erosion and sediment, rehabilitation and remediation.
